UK-based and Estonian-funded trading app fintech startup lands $25 million in Series A round led by Lightspeed Ventures. The investment app received support from the well-known billionaire Richard Branson and the Virgin Group. Mosaic Ventures, Taavet+Sten, Metaplanet, and existing investors also joined the round.
The funding round comes less than a year since the launch of the Lightyear app and its pre-seed funding round organized in 2021, when the company raised $1.5 million.
Lightyear trading app is considered to be Europe’s alternative to Robinhood. And the Series A funds are planned for launching the app in 19 EU countries. Through its expansion in Europe, the Lightyear trading platform will serve customers from Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Austria, Belgium, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, and Luxembourg.
