What is Gwei?

Gwei, also called shannon, represents a denomination or a small unit of the cryptocurrency Ether (ETH). Gwei, also called gigawei, is equal to 1,000,000,000 wei, the smallest unit of Ethereum’s platform native cryptocurrency. Expressed in ETH, one gwei equals 0.000000001 ETH, while one ETH equals 1 billion gwei.

The small unit is practical in estimating the gas fees paid to miners for processing transactions.
