In 1934, a group of civic-minded local investors decided to charter a bank that would support their community. We were called National Bank in Manistique then, servicing the numerous industries in the area, such as mining, logging and retail as we still do today. In our inaugural year, our company’s deposits totaled $154,000. By our 40th Anniversary, our deposits exceeded $17 million and today we’re a company with assets of $1.3 billion. We’ve worked hard and we’ve worked smart to become one of the largest community banks headquartered in Michigan. We’ve grown into an award-winning community bank with more than 300 team members across 28 branch locations.
