About Manufacturers Bank

Manufacturers Bank was formed by a group of banking entrepreneurs in June, 1962, in downtown Los Angeles to serve the robust apparel industry. Today our scope has expanded to serve the specialized needs of California middle market businesses manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, importers, exporters, and service companies, including small businesses and professionals.

October 1962 – Manufacturers Bank opens its doors at 135 East Ninth Street, Los Angeles, California.

November 1974 – The Mitsui Bank of California, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Mitsui Bank, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, opens its first office in the World Trade Center in downtown Los Angeles.

June 1981 – Manufacturers Bank is acquired by Mitsui Bank, Limited. Soon after, Mitsui Bank of California merges with Manufacturers Bank, and Mitsui Manufacturers Bank is created.

March 1992 – Our parent takes on the name The Sakura Bank Limited, we drop Mitsui from our name and became simply Manufacturers Bank again…. Continue reading about Manufacturers Bank here.
