About Landesbank Saar (SAARLB)
On November 29, 1941, the “Landesbank und Girozentrale Westmark”, the predecessor of SaarLB, was founded in Saarbrücken. One of the first tasks of today’s SaarLB was to provide the public and private economy with loans and also to manage the savings bank accounts.
Shortly after the Saarland joined the Federal Republic and the introduction of the D-Mark, today’s SaarLB founded the “Banque Franco-Allemande”. At that time, this institute quickly developed into an important factor in Franco-German economic relations.
