Full of history, the career of CFCAL begins on February 8, 1872, the date of creation of the bank in Strasbourg, then German, by decree of Guillaume I and Chancellor Bismarck on the model of Crédit Foncier de France, itself created in 1852 in Paris. From 1899, the law on German mortgage banks established a special status from which the CFCAL benefits, authorizing it to issue mortgage bonds (from the German “Pfandbriefe”).
