About Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino

The Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino (CBSM) is a private legal entity with mixed public and private participation. According to its Statute, the CBSM performs the following functions:

  • supervision of the banking, financial and insurance sectors, and investor protection;
  • management, regulation and supervision of the payment system;
  • manager of treasury and tax collection services on behalf of the state and public bodies and autonomous companies;
  • depositary of the financial resources of the State and of the Bodies and Companies of the Enlarged Public Sector;
  • institutional contact point for international organizations, central banks, foreign financial supervisory authorities and the like;
  • elaboration and publication of statistics on the subjects it supervises and on their activity;
