What is a Ledger in crypto?

From a blockchain perspective, a “ledger” represents a book where transactions, activities, and elements executed by network participants are permanently written. Blockchain nodes have their own copy of the specific network ledger, and new transactions approved by the blockchain nodes are written on the ledger. Any changes made to the ledger are visible to all network users, making the blockchain network secure because no single authority controls it.
