The savings bank was founded in November 1990 within the framework of the ZSSS by 28 founding members of trade unions, as well as the Association of Pensioners’ Associations of Slovenia and the Association of Working Disabled Persons of Slovenia. It started operations in February 1991, with 25 banks, 19 savings banks and 65 savings and credit companies.
Even today, trade unions represent the largest, very important pillar of the ownership structure of the savings bank, which ensures the stability and continuity of the business model, a people-friendly financial institution.
