About Bankhaus Gebr. Martin AG
In 1912 Göppingen was characterized by lively economic development. The need for credit and banking services was great.
So the brothers Carl and Gustav Martin made the decision to set up a banking business in their parents’ wine shop at Oberen Freihofstrasse 10 in Göppingen. On April 1st, 1912 the opening was published in the Göppingen Wochenblatt. After two years and with the beginning of World War I, the two founders were called up for military service. During this time, the bank was continued by her sister Berta Mühlschlegel and an uncle.
In 1917, the former deanery building on Schlossplatz, which the bank moved into after two years of renovation, was acquired. The building is still the seat of the bank to this day.
